Power & Presence

Large, muscular, athletic, and impressive in structure with a calm, commanding appearance.

History of the Cane Corso

The Cane Corso originated in Italy and is believed to be a descendant of the ancient Roman war dogs known as the Canis Pugnax. These powerful dogs were used by Roman soldiers in battle and later became versatile working dogs on Italian farms.

After the fall of the Roman Empire, the Cane Corso continued to serve farmers and landowners across rural Italy. They were used for a wide variety of tasks, including:

Guarding homes and property Protecting livestock Hunting large game such as wild boar Working alongside farmers in the fields

Over time, the breed nearly disappeared due to industrialization and changes in farming practices. Fortunately, dedicated breeders worked to revive the Cane Corso during the late 20th century, restoring the breed to its former strength and popularity.

Today, the Cane Corso is recognized around the world as a loyal guardian, family companion, and working dog.

Temperament

One of the most admired traits of the Cane Corso is its loyalty. These dogs form extremely strong bonds with their families and are naturally protective of the people they love.
